ALFA Names Debbie Kinsey 2010 Hero Of Senior Living

The Assisted Living Federation of
America (ALFA) has announced the recipients of its Hero Awards for 2010. Six
extraordinary professionals in senior living have been selected from a pool of
nearly 1,000 nominations for ALFA’s prestigious Hero Awards program, which each
year recognizes superior care and service to seniors and to the senior living
business. Debbie Kinsey, housekeeper at Brightview of Avondell, a Brightview
Senior Living community in Bel Air, Maryland,
has been named a 2010 Hero of Senior Living.
The number of outstanding nominations for the ALFA Hero
Awards this year marked an all-time high. Nominations were reviewed by ALFA’s
selection committee of senior living professionals and resulted in this year’s
six ALFA Heroes of Senior Living. Award recipients will be honored at the ALFA
2010 Conference & Expo, May 25-27, in Phoenix,
and featured in upcoming issues of ALFA’s magazine, Assisted Living Executive. Following the conference, multimedia
presentations that feature the ALFA 2010 Heroes will be available at ALFA.org.

supervisors, and colleagues, the ALFA 2010 Heroes, and all of those who were
nominated, are the outstanding individuals who every day show their strong

Kinsey’s everyday performance is the epitome of
above-and-beyond service and dedication to residents. Her colleagues marvel at
her ability to always get her daily work done and make time to assist residents
with special tasks, such as rearranging clothes closets at the start of a new
season. Kinsey listens carefully to residents during these activities, helping
them feel a sense of accomplishment for tasks they would be unable to complete
by themselves. Kinsey is also known for volunteering at community events,
dancing with resident and encouraging even shy residents to join the
festivities. “After the fun, she takes on the majority of clean-up, leaving our
community ready to well all the next day. Debbie is always will to help others
with anything needed to make their days better,” said a colleague.
