The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) is a professional association exclusively dedicated to professionally managed assisted living communities for seniors. ALFA serves as the voice of senior living; continually "raises the bar" for operational excellence; and advocates on behalf of members and the seniors they serve.
Over a decade ago, ALFA launched the Hero Awards to honor assisted living professionals who provide extraordinary care by going above and beyond expectations to surprise and delight residents. Heroes could include executive directors, staff members, nurses, frontline caregivers, or volunteers who do more, give more, and personify the spirit of excellence in senior living care. Only six Heroes are chosen each year for this prestigious award from communities all across the country. Recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrating extraordinary courage and leadership as well as rising above his or her daily duties to improve the quality of life for residents.
Avondell’s own Debbie Kinsey is a 2010 recipient of the ALFA Hero Award! Debbie is a valued member of the Brightview Avondell Housekeeping Team. “Debbie goes above and beyond to help others with anything needed to make their day better,” said Avondell Executive Director Eileen Adams. “Residents and families consistently comment on Debbie’s ability to get her work done while making each and every resident feel special and loved.”
